Crunchies From Grandpa, Cleaning Out A Cat Shelter, A Cat Donut * S4 E91

Lucky Ferals Cat Family Vlog Season 4 Episode 91

Season 4 Episode 91 of the Lucky Ferals Cat Family vlog features a visit from Grandma and Grandpa, cleaning out a cat shelter, a cat donut, and more including:

Day 1268 – Boo was relaxing on his day sofa. Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. Grandma gave Simba some dried fish to eat. Grandpa fed crunchies to the cats.

Day 1269 – Simba was relaxing in the cat tower. Ditto and Hydrox had breakfast.

Day 1270 – I cleaned out the other heated feral cat shelter and put a new heated pet mat in it.

Day 1271 – The cats were relaxing. Stella and Splash were curled up on the couch together like a cat donut.

Cleaning Out A Cat Shelter

Some cat shelters are easier to clean than others. Cat shelters made from plastic storage tubs are easy to clean because they have removable lids, the entire contents of the shelter can be removed, and then the inside can be hosed out or scrubbed down for easy cleaning.

DIY cat shelters made out of wood, with straight sides, square corners, and removable roofs are also easy to clean. This is the type of shelter that Hydrox is currently living in. I have a K&H heated pet mat inside of the shelter and I have several potty pads on top of and to the side of the heated pet mat. This has been working very well. Any time that the potty pads get dirty, I just have to take them out and replace them with clean ones.

The most difficult shelters to clean have been the K&H Soft Sided Heated Cat Shelters. These shelters are held together with velcro and zippers and it takes longer to unassemble them to access the full inside area. If the heated mat needs to come out for cleaning, the cord has to be removed from the opening at the end of the shelter which also takes time. And of course, since these cannot be directly exposed to weather, they need to be removed from their outer enclosure (in our case, a wooden dog house).
